Cock and Mocktail Shrubs and Switchels

Fruit, herb, spice, nut and vinegar shrubs are the secret to the finest cocktails and mocktails.  The vinegary, sweet syrup adds depth, and layers of complexity, that couldn't otherwise be achieved.

"The term "shrub" is borrowed from the Arabic word sharāb meaning "to drink"" - Wikipedia, Oxford University Press and Colins English Dictionary. While shrubs can also define a fruit liqueur, here we define shrubs as a syrup or drinking vinegar to make beverages special.  Both with and without alcohol.

Shrubs have a rich history and are worthy of exploration.  From medicinal cordials of the 15th century to the preservation of fruits that were smuggled. We simply use them for everyday magic.  Even a splash added to sparkling water (or still water) transforms a drink into something worthy of an umbrella or a flower.

We hope you'll explore the shrub & switchel recipes  to which we will be adding more seasonally.
